Based on the recent statistics almost one in seven Canadians indicated that they lived in a household where there was food insecurity in the past 30 days (Statistics Canada, 2020). The situation got worse during covid-19 pandemic. Many Canadians went through an extensive job loss and reduced hours of work. Therefore, we believe that supporting our community during these hard times is essential.
On March 26, 2022, Northern Lights Relief Foundation in collaboration with Ripples of Kindness distributed food to people and gathered everyone together for lunch in an atmosphere of friendship and hospitality. In total 150 meals were distributed. The food was prepared by the volunteers of the Northern Lights Relief Foundation. This event brought together people from different races, religions, and social and economic statuses.
It was an honour and joy to serve our community.
